I hate it when this happens. Bands that I didn’t know still existed breaking up. I mean, it took me years to get over Harvey Danger’s break up, mostly because it took me a couple years to remember who they were and find out they’d broken up.
But alas, the bar-friendly British rockers most famous for “Tubthumping” are officially getting knocked down and calling it quits.
The band posted this heartfelt goodbye on their website, which has probably gotten more traffic today than every other day since 1997 combined:
“Thirty years of ideas and melodies, endless meetings and European tours, press releases, singalong choruses and Dada sound poetry, finally at an end.”
It is indeed a sad day. I’m gonna go home and pour one out for these guys. The question is — drink a whiskey drink…or drink a vodka drink?
